What to Wear

Babies

To capture those beautiful sleepy poses, newborns are best photographed within 10 days of birth, when they are still tiny & curled up.

Babies, particularly newborns, are best captured with as little clothing as possible.  Knitted hats, soft blankets etc are great when photographing older babies.

Children & Families

Simple or trendy outfits work well for older children, with solid colours in mid or bright tones adding a great splash of colour.  Large logos, busy patterns and the like, will detract from the childrens' faces.  Denim is always good too.  Feel free to bring a clothing change if you like, but sometimes accessories such as hats and scarves, hoodies (a personal favourite!),  flowers are all that is needed to add some variety to the portraits.  Layered sweaters etc in winter, add texture & look fabulous in pictures.

If two or more children are to be photographed together, it is a good idea for their outfits to coordinate.  By this I mean similar tones, not matching outfits!   For example one child wearing a bright blue shirt would not look great next to another wearing a pastel yellow shirt.  However, if the child wearing bright blue was photographed with another wearing a bright yellow shirt, that would work.

I want everyone to feel comfortable, so that should be the main aim when choosing clothing for your photographs.
